GDPR - General Data Protection Regulations ( posted on May 24, 2018 )

On 25th May 2018 the General Data Protection Regulations come into effect.  As a result we have updated our data protection policies and have developed a patient privacy notice.  These have been developed jointly with four ohter practices in Hereford City Centre who we will be merging with on 1st July to form Hereford Medical Group.  As a result, the documents cover both the existing pratices and the new practice. These can be found by clicking the links below:

Friday 2nd March - Weather update ( posted on Mar 2, 2018 )

Our staff have battled in through the snow and the surgery is open today although appointment availability will be for urgent matters only.

We would ask patients who have appointments booked to let us know as soon as possible if they are not able to make their appointments. This will allow the doctors and nurses to plan the care of those patients who do need to be seen today.

Thank you

How much do you know about how a GP surgery works? ( posted on Feb 5, 2018 )

We’ve all been to the doctor, right?  We know how it works; we know how to get an appointment and what to say when we go.  I’m always surprised at how little people do understand about how their doctor’s surgery really works, and how to get the best out of them.

In this article a GP explains how your GP practice works.  Take a look, you may be interested in what it says!

Self referral to physiotherapy ( posted on Jan 16, 2018 )

If you feel that you need a referral to the practice based physiotherapist then you do not necessarily need to see a GP.  If you complete this form and drop into the reception team then the physiotherapist will review your needs and, if appropriate, arrange an appointment for an assessment.

Article in the Hereford Times ( posted on Jun 22, 2017 )

We are currently working with 4 other practices in Hereford City Centre with a view to merging in April 2018.  The practices are: Moorfield House Surgery, Greyfriars Surgery, King St and Bobblestock Surgeries and Quay House Medical Centre.

As part of our communication with our patients, a letter was recently sent to the Hereford Times explaining the reasons for the merger.  This letter has been taken by the newspaper to produce an article on the merger plans which has been published today.

A copy of the letter that was sent to the newspaper, which contains a bit more information about why we are working towards a merger of services, can be found by clicking here

Direct access to physiotherapist appointments ( posted on Apr 26, 2017 )

Our Physiotherapist, Sue Skyrme, can now see you for an initial consultation without needing to see a GP first. This is ideal for anyone with:

  • back pain (less than 6 weeks)
  • ankle/shoulder/knee problems
  • sprains

Sue will assess your problem and give you a plan for treatment/ exercises that will help you. If she feels that a GP could also help then she will advise you of this.

Ask reception for a ‘physio triage’ assessment if you are contacting us for an appointment and think you might benefit from this.

Ear syringing ( posted on Jul 15, 2016 )

You may be aware from the media that patient demand in General Practice is increasing and yet practice resource levels have barely changed. As a result, we have had to review the range of services offered by our nurses.

Patients are finding that there are longer waiting times to book an appointment for essential nursing services such Long Term Condition reviews, ECGs and wound care.  We have to prioritise our clinical services to ensure those most in need have the treatment required. Ear syringing - where not needed for clinical reasons - is not funded.  Therefore we have reluctantly taken the decision that we will not be offering ear syringing appointments at Sarum House.  We have produced a leaflet which explains other options.

There are also other highly effective self-care methods that you can use to keep your ears clear of wax. Please see your local Pharmacist for advice.
